Roberto Bolaño died shortly after presenting the first draft of 2666 to his publisher, Anagrama. 2666 opens with a novel about four European literary critics, academics, who specialize in the work of a fictional German novelist, Benno von Archimboldi. 2666 is one of those novels which push the limits of the novel past its conventional size and scope, and its 893 pages of text definitely is one literary mammoth. Calling Roberto Bolano's 2666 a novel is somewhat misleading. He worked on his novel 2666 until his last days, which was finally published in 2004 after his death. I think it's worth the commitment of time and attention, and I haven't read any reviews from any of my friends. 10:28 am - 2666 by Roberto Bolaño 2666 is a massive novel, and it's translated from Spanish. While a rose by any other name may well smell as sweet, the title of a book is most frequently inextricably linked to the nature and quality of the story contained within. Bolaño's final, posthumously published novel, 2666, is dominated by the void. Santa Teresa, in the state of Sonora, on the Mexican-U.S. 2666 is a detective novel featuring a character from Savage Detectives as the narrator.
